End-of-course SFQ Survey Exercises
- In HKUST, all lecture-based sections are required to collect student feedback using SFQs. For most courses, the SFQ surveys are normally conducted during week 11-13 of the term or two weeks before the end of the course examination.
- One SFQ exercise is conducted for each academic term and over 4000 surveys are administered in each academic year.
- Students can complete SFQs through one of the following means:
- Canvas Note 1
- SFQ survey system
- HKUST iLearn app, a mobile app which is available on two platforms:
- Teaching personnel can also make use of HKUST iLearn App / SFQ survey system to conduct SFQ in classes. For more details, please refer to here.
- During the data collection period, students who have not completed all their SFQ surveys are reminded regularly through emails and HKUST iLearn app.
- All SFQ survey submissions are strictly confidential. While the SFQ survey system requires login from students, such information is used for preventing multiple submissions only and they will not be disclosed in SFQ reports or in raw data files. Only aggregate results will be included in SFQ reports.
- After the data have been collected, reports are generated and can be accessed online. Teaching personnel are given access to SFQ reports only AFTER they have submitted their course grades.
AQA produces the following types of SFQ reports to meet different stakeholders' needs:

Notes:
1. The Canvas Apps by Instructure do not include SFQ section, so students and teaching personnel cannot perform any SFQ operations such as completing surveys or retrieving teaching personnel reports via these apps.
2. Teaching personnel can contact the authorized person in the department to generate provisional reports only provided that they have submitted their final grades for the courses.
3. Since these reports contain aggregate statistics (i.e. course, department, school and university level), it takes some time to complete the statistics calculation and report generation. In addition, as the data capture period for SFQ surveys often extends beyond the end of the term, the aggregate statistics in the reports will be subject to minor changes during the first month after the reports are released.
